Thus my first impressions encouraged me to emphasize the differences between Pentecostalism and Evangelicalism. These impressions were reinforced by my reading of the writings of Walter Hollenweger and by a growing sense that the charismatic movement needed to affirm its kinship with Pentecostalism, but not copy its theology, if it was to retain its dynamic power and impact.
